Laurian Gherman - chitara, asistent risotto, ghidaj

Vali Goran - chitara, voce, foc pana in zori

English version

Cioclovina, the hidden gem in Romania I spent last weekend at Cioclovina 11, in Hunedoara county, Romania, very close to Orastie city.

It’s an underrated destination, hidden in the Sureanu Mountains. A magical place, carefully administered by the scout team of Hunedoara. I heard before about different scout teams, but I never met someone until now, and I was very pleased by their knowledge, dedication, passion of doing good things and their creativity of developing projects for kids and young people. Chapeau!

You can find out more about their activity in the links below. Please thumbs up! They deserve it.

I’ve reached these places with some friends who visited it before. I expected to find beautiful spots, but I was truly amazed. Cioclovina village is situated in a huge Natural Park and it’s a special place with good energy given by the archaic elements, fertile earth, waterfalls, rocky areas, deep valleys, lots of caves, and many, many ancient vestiges since Dacian period. But you know what they say: A good farmer makes a good farm. I'm impressed the most by the people.

They are for me “the gate keepers”, the guardians of these natural treasures through hard work and responsibility and love for the Mother Nature. In this place, the time dilations exists, the day is longer, and the night, even it seems shorter, it’s very comforting and relaxing.

I picked honey fungus right from my backyard, but also I found penny buns or porcini from the forest, and then I cooked risotto with the delicious mushrooms from Mother Nature. I spent Halloween night in a Romanian way, with guitar playing around the fire under the moonlight.

The second day at the Cioclovina I went to nature, following the water course and then I discovered a chain of waterfalls. The trail has some difficult areas, but the sightseeing deserves the effort.

The next place visited was the gallery dug by the miners for the guano-phosphate from the Cioclovina Uscata. Taking the path for going back home I really enjoyed the colorful view painted by the autumn colors. And I couldn’t help myself. I also picked some mushrooms again.

Can’t wait to go back to these beautiful places and next time I want to visit the Dacian fortress at Piatra Rosie, the Dacian wall in Ponorici, and some other tourist spots like Poiana Omului, Fundatura Ponor.

I want to say a big, big thank you to all the people who made this experience possible. It was an unforgettable holiday, well spent in my beautiful country.

Thank you!

- Laurian Gherman - guitar player, guide and cook

- Vali Goran - guitar player, vocal, fire keeper

- Adrian Barbu – guitar player and barbecue chef

And of course, thank you my amazing friends!
